Celebrating one-year of Fréa’s Women of Irish Heritage (WIH) Professional Network
Updated: Mar 10
Today is International Women’s Day and not only is this a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Women of Irish Heritage it also marks one year since the launch of WIH in Manchester by Sarah Mangan, Consul General of Ireland.
Since we formed the Network a year ago, 290 women from across the North of England have joined us to support the vital work of the Fréa partner charities.
With members hailing from all sectors, including finance, legal, construction and media, our Network offers professional support and friendship while also celebrating Irish culture through events and experiences.
Over the past year, we’ve also hosted a series of networking events in across the region, with a range of inspiring speakers joining us to share their experiences and knowledge.
Even more importantly, the Network has raised funds for all three Fréa partner charities, Irish Community Care (based in Liverpool), Irish Community Care Manchester and Leeds Irish Health and Homes.
We kickstarted our celebrations with over 50 women of Irish heritage from across the north of England joining us at the International Women’s Day Walk for Women in Manchester city centre on 4 March – and this week over on our social media we are sharing some wonderful videos from our members about the value of this the Women of Irish Heritage Network to them personally and professionally.
We’d love more women of Irish Heritage to join our network. If you’re interested in learning more you can follow Fréa on Twitter or keep in touch via Women of Irish Heritage’s LinkedIn page
